Girlfriends new puppy attacks their German Shepard Puppy is a mutt: Mix of a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, and Yorkie. Both dogs are very well behaved and trained very well. This is still one of their games. The GS taunts her to get whatever toy it has. This is the Original, all others are stolen.

You are wrong. German Sheppards have the weakest bite of any dog. That's what they were bred for. You don't want your dog eating your sheep. That's why cops use them too, so they don't hurt criminals. Fun fact, German sheppards have 1/3 as many teeth as normal dogs.

My boy had hip displacure even though he is 100% pedigree and from excellent stock! He came from a litter of 9 and all the others were also large boned. He is healthy though! I am not making it up about his weight or size, I have no need too! Everyone who see's him comments that he is the largest Shepherd they have ever seen! The best thing though he is good natured but like most Shepherds is very protective of home 'the pack'! I have no doubt he would defend us but hope that day never happens!

I love it when my dog shows its teeth ! My pit bull showed its teeth & almost took a piece of a cops face as the cop was clearly scared while trying to pat me down while I held the my pit bull close to me by its leash. mrmegaswap Easy I put him on the scales at the vet the other day! He comes from large Geman stock! His great grandfather was Usrus Von Batu (World champion in around 2000)! He can put his paws on my shoulders and look me on the eye, that is how big he is! When I got him I knew he would be big but he is a little overweight for his size (needs to lose about 3 kilos)! And no I do not say this to boast or improve my penis size because he is simply my friend!

I adopted my white German shepherd when he was 2 and he lived with us till he was 9. He was SO timid at first. But they are SUPER easy to train. It is half the time of training then other dogs. When he first lived with us he kept pottying inside the house for 2 weeks but we took him outside constantly and after a week he was trained. As for tricks he knew: sit,shake,roll over, jump, wait, speak. Then he died from heart worm...:( His name was beautiful, SANTANA. The meaning of santana is saint,

grantika 445: Lots of rescues available if you look online for shelters in your area. I got a young 2 year old GShep at a no-kill shelter last Fall. She had been neglected and totally untrained, but she' so intelligent, she has me trained already! have never paid for a GSD: this is my 4th, and she is sweet, protective, yet plays well w/others at the doggy day care. I think there is a site called Petsearch or similar. You can rescue a loving best friend and you both will be better for it!

Saku is beautiful. I have a rescue GSD Reno, he is absolutely fantastic and the intelligence of him never fails to surprise me. My Reno had been abused and neglected, he had been hurt with cattle prods and starved. Nobody will ever hurt him again now that he is with me. x

@galenatt - I appreciate your advice. I only warned them to let them know not to get too crazy. But it's not true that no dog won't harm another. Cody is very protective of our Yorkie and another yorkie came to visit and he attacked him. Had we not been there to give commands, he would have torn him apart and I'd have had one less friend.

you should check out my other video of Cody and my yorkie, Travis. We put him on the ground immediately and he was only 3 pounds. I don't think you'll ever get anxious dog owners to not be anxious. I also don't think it's unwise of dog owners to pick up their small dog around a big dog when they are concerned. My yorkie sometimes gets stepped on, just because the shepherd isn't looking where he's going. You could just let them know that your dogs are super gentle and have never hurt anyone.

I love this video, shows just how gentle gsd's can be around smaller dogs,i have 2 gsd's and they are just big playful puppies at the moment both have just turned a year old and wanna play play play but often owners of smaller dogs become anxious and lift them when we are around, does anyone else have this situation, how to socialise properly when others are ignorant of how gentle and playful they are just because they are a wee bit bigger??? Anyway love this video xxxxx

she was a choco lab and I took her in because the people who got her found out her husband had stomach cancer and didn't want to get attached. So I took her for about 3 weeks and helped place her with a family.

Keeping 2 was very high maintenance for us and after 5 years we let Jessie go back to the breeder. He's happy. These 2 just never truly got along except to challenge each other and constantly fight for attention. But I do know people who have 3 and 2 and they are fine. We worked very hard to make it work, but to little avail.

I have many many Belgian Malinois and also Rottweilers and Bullmastiffs, but I recently got myself a working line GSD for my home because I now have children. I think they are good with children compared to the other breeds I mentioned. I also have some GSDs in training at our K9 camp, especially for patrol work - they're more intimidating than the mals. For drug or bomb detection, I'd still go for mals anytime.

when I got my dog he was about 3 months old and very playful. I keep him in the house and we stayed like in the back woods where neighbors were like 200 or more feet away. No he does not like other dogs at all, but loves kids...every time he sees little kids he wants to go run and play with them. one thing I noticed is he won't jump on them and like he does me like he knows they are delicate...very smart dog and all we taught him was not to use it in the house lol

I think he was focusing on the socializing the dog. We did not do that to my dog and he is a fucking deadly killing machine. MestizaMamita.....Its difficult to work and to be a pet owner. The key is exercise. As far as your dogs health theres a lady on here..I have her favorited. I beleive her screename is TotalGermanShepherds, her name is Deb and she can probably give you a better idea of your dogs health. If you are concerned dont hesitate and take your pup to your vet. @MestizaMamita i just got a german shepherd pup who is nearly 8 weeks old and he's pretty much the same u explained urs to be. the vet said that its normal for them to sleep a lot [which was a relief as it worried me also]. i manage to get him up and playing by rolling and bouncing a tennis ball around him until he tries to pounce on it, then i take it away and so on and so on. also one of those toys where u put the snack in side is also really good. wow this is long. gl.

He really is a crappy handler.The dogs aren't even doing the command he gave,he is having them do protection as they are on a prong collar, he has 2 males for protection(I guess it is an extention of his penis) when he should have a male and a female...the trainer should know that and should have told him that it would be the better way to go.Then the dogs wouldn't go after eachother and might actually do their job and protect.He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed!!

Im sure hes probably had 5 and only has 2 now. Once you have a GSD its extremely difficult to become intrested in another breed. They are just so good at anything. It was actually tested. The German Shepherd had the 3rd strongest bite force behind the wolf and rottweiler. The pittbull had a very weak one, only 20lbs stronger than a human bite. This is not opinions, it was scientifically tested with multiple dogs per breed for some show.

I have german shepherd, also presas canarios. You don't image how is the force bite of a presa canario. is much stronger as the pitbull one, but a lot more. Dogos argentinos hunt pigs, their bite is incredible, neapolitan mastiff are very strong too, of course stronger than the one og german shepherd. Cane corso too,... the german shepherd has a very good instint of attack and bite, but they are not inside the top 10 of stronger bites, believe, I someone who knows what I am speaking about.

Interesting that you use hand commands with speech. My 2 GSD's are speech only. But thats usually because one hand is using a torch, the other the lead. I hope you only punish the dog when cuaght in the act as well. Dogs live 'in the moment' and a smack on the noise when you come home to find the yard a mess will only have the dog associate you coming home with punishment.

Apart from a few breeds like the caucasian etc dogs are not protective unless they are trained. if a stranger comes and hits the dog it will run away in fear. You need to train the dog to overcome that fear so that it can protect.

Personally I'm not sure about the whole, Eukanuba's the greatest, thing, honestly I believe there are other better brands, but I will agree that GSD's are the best dog around. And while I don't own one at the moment, I will in the future. We use pedigree for our current dog, but I'm considering when I get a GSD when I live on my own trying either a raw diet, or a Pedigree diet. I love Alsation's, they're so beautiful and graceful.

Pedigree is the way to go. My old German Shepherd loved Habenero Doritos, mints, spaghetti was his favorite, dark chocolate (the chocolate didn't affect him in any way, except that he begged like the homeless on Christmas for some) and pretty much anything edible. He lived to be 15 and pedigree was the dog food of choice.

Took my year old shepherd to visit the breeder 6 mnths ago. They asked what I was feeding him cause his coat was wiry & his ligaments were loose. When I told them Eukanuba you thought I had said chocolate - they were horrified. I switched to the food they advised. His ligaments tightened up, his fur is soft & he has darkened in colour. Don't trust the ads-go with what your breeder recommends for your breed or let your dog guide you. Pet shops & vets would get commission for recommending brands.

Standard poodles are also the most gentle and least vocal. Are you saying you would recommend getting a GSD to a person that has no other experience with dogs? This is a lie. I have a 14 year old German Shepherd Dog and she is in perfect condition. I have also had three others in the past. All of them lived to be at least 10 years old. And I had a poodle when I was younger. He would bite anyone that would come near him. I was only 5 at the time so we gave him to a breeder, who gave us our first GSD named Charlotte.

The breed also has serious health problems associated with the breed and health testing is no guarantee your pup won't develop an issue even if the lines are clear of issues as I have learned. Most are ball crazed too and can be obsessive about their ball. Smart dogs that are a little too smart for their own good and need experienced owners. This is not a first time dog owner breed, get a standard poodle instead (speaking from experience, I have one too).

They love to swim???? Someone needs to tell my GSD that. I think the destructive nature has been left out, they like to chew especially as pups. Mine is addicted to nylabones. If you get a GSD expect things to get chewed, I've learned not to leave anything I value in reach, even though she's stopped chewing my stuff I still don't trust leaving many things within her reach when I sleep. Training isn't suggested for this breed it is required... A GSD needs training

I have a 6yr old male & a 3.5 yr old female (both 'fixed'). They have never been leashed; verbal command training is all they've ever needed. Training takes much time & patience, but the rewards are great. They've always been great whether in a public place or on a hiking trip. They do however require MUCH of your time- not a good breed for someone that can't afford to continuously spend time with a dog. Otherwise they become depressed and reflect this through aggression, becoming a 'mean' dog.

Had Border Collies most of my life. My all black GSD had a pretty poor start in life and I picked her up at 6 months old. She's 8 years old now with a constantly amusing pesonality, and the temperment of a saint. By far the best dog I've ever had by a good margin. I totally trust her around people even if I'm not around, including my grand kids, though the youngest would probably get knocked over by her a few times. the couple of hours were were on it.

Having owned GSD's my whole life, I cannot stress this enough -- socialize, socialize, socialize, and do so VERY EARLY in life! These dogs are not likely to challenge their owners, as their drive to please is so high, and their loyalty is so deeply ingrained that they are highly unlikely to turn on their masters and mistresses ... sadly, even in cases where owners didn't deserve to have such a terrific dog, and harmed the dog. In such cases, sad but true, this breed is loyal to a fault.

I agree that he is a beautiful pup... But i also think that he is an effective guard dog simply because he WILL protect if there is a real problem. Yeah hes is not professionally trained which is why there is the hesitation.. Any dog not trained to attack on command is going to hesitate when a friend is only pretending to accost them. And doesn't have bite gear on at that. And on the flip side trained attack dogs can be very friendly (provided you aren't their target :P

Someone once told me that Vetnerary Science is the hardest degree course to get in to. It's the elite that the Universities take. It's even harder than getting into Medicine! Doctors often think alot of themselves but they do admire vets. Errrr..so it's obvious here who knows what they are talking about. So, according to the judge, the traditional GSD is 'Anatomically incorrect' In my humble opinion, the judge is "NEUROLOGICALLY INCORRECT!"

This is not true ... these people who says that the German Shepherd was half dog then they dont know that much about this kind of dog ... To the German Shepherd this problem with the hips and legs happens when they dont run and jump so much when they r a puppies ..... GSD's roached back doesnt affect their leg strenght. though they ar now prone to hip displaysia.. but sad for those showlines, they already lost their prey drive. the only thing left is their pure loyalty to their family. i love my showline GSD..

My God, that is tragic...I lovethese dogs, the GSD is my favorite breed and I too, was shocked when I had my first experience with both a dog show and "show" shepherds some years back after only being exposed to what I now see as generally well-bred and sound "pet" quality. and that judge! anyone else notice how he dodged her question on whether the dogs could do their original jobs? he said they weren't up to "standard" but it wasn't a straight answer to the question at all.

I have a pure German show line without the roached back. Took me a long time to find a showline that has the fight and prey drive necessary for schutzhund, but one that doesn't move like a frog. Some breeders of showlines are still getting it right, most are not. People with working lines insist that he has working lines due to his form and drives, but his pedigree is all showlines. they just aren't bred to be frogs, yet still qualify for show. I hate what conformation has done to many dogs.

Good lord. I knew they were bad but seeing it up close like this...I wonder if they are not in constant pain, and just grow used to it...poor creatures. An important point though is that this video makes it sound like inbreeding is some sort of crime - inbreeding is a good method when used correctly. It can intensify desirable genes (however, it will also intensify undesirable genes...which is why I say it must be done correctly and carefully.
