We all know how unpleasant excessive stress can be. We also know the feeling of sickness in our stomach before an important performance, and the intense ‘fight-or-flight’ reaction we get when we face frustration after frustration.

In this society where challenges have to be met and limits to be broken all the time, there are just too many stresses which one had to handle & faced, be it student who faces stress at school work & during exam period or the working adult who had to meet the demands of never ending workload & unrealistic deadlines. Relaxation techniques become a marvelous way to help in the quest for stress management.

A lot of people have the misconception that relaxation is just only about having peace of mind or simply enjoying a hobby during their past time. However, relaxation is much more than just that, relaxation is actually a process that helps reduces the wear and tear of life’s challenges both physically & mentally so that one can recharge & keep on going positively in life.

Regardless whether one has a very stressful & hectic lifestyle or they have managed to get it under control, one can still benefit from learning the different relaxation techniques. Learning basic relaxation techniques is easy & by exploring these simple relaxation techniques, one is able to get started on de-stressing their life and improving their holistic health.

According to a research done on using relaxation training in improving of irritable bowel syndrome, it was found that with relaxation training in a brief group intervention, it has significantly improves symptom severity, general health perception and medical consumption in irritable bowel syndrome patients immediately after, as well as 6 and 12 months after intervention.[2]

There are also a number of other benefits as to how the body readily responds to stress from practicing relaxation techniques:

* Decrease in heart rate

* Able to stay mentally positive

* Slowing one’s breathing rate

* Reducing the need for oxygen

* Increasing blood flow to major muscles

* Reducing muscle tension

* Reducing emotional responses, such as anger and frustration

* Improved concentration & focus

* Greater ability to handle problems

* More efficiency in daily activities

Although health professionals such as complementary and alternative medicine practitioners, doctors and psychotherapists can teach relaxation techniques, we can also learn some of these techniques on our own.

The relaxation response leads to a quieting of the sympathetic nervous system. This relaxation response thus prevent one from being overstress, however it can only be evoked through conscious effort.

Relaxation techniques usually involve refocusing your attention to something calming and increasing awareness of your body. Regular use of the relaxation response helps to offset the effects of fight-or-flight responses (Benson, 1976). It doesn’t matter which techniques one choose, what matters is the need to practice relaxation response regularly to benefit from it.

There are several main types of relaxation techniques, including:

Body-to-mind control is one method which one can use to evoke the relaxation response. It is also known as progress muscle relaxation. In this technique, we will focus on slowly tensing and then relaxing each muscle group. This helps us to focus on the difference between muscle tension and relaxation, and we will become more aware of our physical sensations. We may choose to start off by tensing and relaxing the muscles in our toes and progressively working our way up to the neck and head. Tense the various muscles for at least five seconds and then relax for 30 seconds, and repeat.

Mind-to-body control is another method of evoking the relaxation response. In this technique, we will first select a quiet environment, get into a comfortable position and close our eyes. Next, we will concentrate fully on taking a deep breath and slowly to be aware of the breathing. While we are breathing out, repeat a positive cue word or sentence, for instance, “I’m relaxing my whole body”, “my whole body feels relax and free”. Continue doing this for another 10 to 20 minutes. During this exercise, we will adopt a passive attitude, which means that we will allow any distractions that come to our mind to simply pass through and not to focus on the thoughts so as to allow relaxation to occur at its own pace.

Visualization is the third relaxation techniques one can perform. In this technique, one will form positive & relaxation mental images so as to take on a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation. We will try to stimulate using as many senses as possible, including smells, sights, sounds and textures. If we imagine relaxing at the ocean, for instance, we will think about the warmth of the sun, the sound of crashing waves, the feel of the grains of sand and the smell of salt water. We may choose to close our eyes, sit in a quiet spot and loosen any tight clothing so that it will help in the process of the overall relaxation technique.

There are also other relaxation techniques which include those that are more familiar with, such as Taichi, yoga, music, exercise, meditation, hypnosis and massage etc.

In Taichi, we combine both the techniques of body to mind & mind to body relaxation responses. Taichi can also be regarded as a form of dynamic meditation and when coupled with music along with the rhythmic, graceful smooth & continuous movements, it can be considered as one of the more holistic and complete form of relaxation techniques where it combines the positive effects of all the other different form of relaxation techniques.

As we learn & explore the various relaxation techniques, we will slowly become more aware of our muscle tension and also other physical sensations of stress. Once we are able to get a understanding of what the stress response feels like, we can then make a conscious effort to practice a relaxation technique as described earlier the moment we feel our muscles start to tense up.

In this way, we can prevent & thus avoid stress from spiraling out of control. We need to understand that relaxations techniques are skills just like other skills such as swimming, running, baking a cake and as with any skill, our ability to relax improves with correct practice. We need to be patient when performing the relaxation exercises & stay motivated to reduce the negative impact of stress on our body so as to experience a greater sense of calm in our life & also to be control in stress management.

“We trust that the magic of sound, scientifically applied, will contribute in ever greater measure to the relief of human suffering, to a higher development and a richer integration of the human personality, to the harmonious synthesis of all human “notes” of all “group chords and melodies” - until there will be the greater symphony of the One Humanity.”

Roberto Assagioli M.D.

Music can be employed as assistance in obtaining physical, emotional and spiritual health. During the first half of the nineties, I investigated the therapeutic consequences of distinct types of music on patients under adequate anaesthesia. This investigation was done in Johannesburg at the Garden City Clinic, over a period of four years (1991-1995), with statistics done at the Witwatersrand university, by dr. Jackie Galpin.

Data available on investigations done to test the therapeutic benefits of music, would fill a library of its own. That was not what was done. The effect of music with a known therapeutic value, was investigated on patients under adequate anaesthesia - testing for reduction in pain levels and a shorter recovery period. It is an accepted dictum in psychology that people in a deep sleep, coma or under anaesthesia can hear (not remember). That the auditory pathways up to the auditory cortex actually remain open and untouched by anaesthesia. That you can talk to people in a coma or undergoing surgery, and that the body would respond to whatever was said. In many hospitals, positive suggestions are given to patients in a coma and on the operating table. The capital aim of the project was to test music to serve as a credible alternative for the positive verbal suggestions.

Music has powerful effects on people, whether they are educated in music or not. Wertheim (1961) states that “muscle perception and performance is an inborn capacity of the human brain. This ability is common among human beings and is independent of education or culture…..” This makes the application of music as a therapy, or music as an aid to any other therapy, very simple.

Science, Medicine and Anthropology have completed many years of investigation on the effect of music on the physical body. As early as 1830, articles were published by J. Dogiel, which outlined experiments done to affirm music’s dynamic effect on the body. Absolute physiological reactions were established, and amongst other things, it was proved that music act on the circulation of blood, and can cause blood pressure to rise and fall. According to this, these alternations of pressure rely mainly on the influence which auditory stimulation has on the medulla oblongata and the auditory nerve.

During the first half of the previous century, many investigators throughout Europe agreed that music increases metabolism in a very adequate way, and that it changes muscular energy and enhances respiration.

The positive effects of music on physical and psychological health are truly widespread. In an article on music as cause of disease and healing agent, Assagioli (1965) states that “through its influence upon the subconscious, music can have a still more definite and specific healing effect of a psychoanalytic character. If of an appropriate kind, it can help in eliminating repression and resistance and bring into the field of waking consciousness many drives, emotions and complexes which were creating difficulties in the subconscious”.

It is known that certain kinds of music have the ability to reduce pain, whether it is physical or emotional. Scarantino (1987) states that “Pythagoras of Samos taught his students that certain musical sequences, chords and melodies produced definite responses in the human organism, and could change behaviour patterns that accelerated healing processes”

In a further discussion Scarantino states “In the 1970’s, Bulgarian researchers, under the direction of Dr. Georgi Lazanov, discovered a holistic approach to learning, that allows the body and mind to work in harmony through the linking of music and verbal suggestions…. While listening to largo movements from works of Baroque era composers, with tempos slower than the average heartbeat (sixty beats per minute or slower), the vital signs of test subjects slows down in rhythm with the music, relaxing them physically but leaving their minds alert for the assimilation of information. When the various educational data was presented to the students while the music played in the background, the students experienced significant increases in awareness and retention of information and a whole repertoire of health benefits, including relief from pain and headaches…..”

Relief of physical pain and stress was also observed during the investigation at the Garden City Clinic, Johannesburg. A double blind experiment was performed to investigate the effect of four different genres of music on the pain, discomfort and recovery levels of patients undergoing total abdominal hysterectomies and laparotomies, and it was found that patients who received music had lower pain- and stress levels, specifically with the use of Mozart’s piano concertos.

Baroque Music (1600-1750) - Music of this period is characterized by neatness and precision. Composers were highly influenced by the strict rules of Pythagorean principles and harmony. Their philosophy was that music is the bridge that links all things in the universe.

Well known composers from this era are: Bach, Händel, Vivaldi, Teleman and Corelli.

Classical Music (1750-1825) - During the 18th century a movement called “The Age of Reason” began amongst philosophers such as Voltaire, Locke and Jefferson, who believed that the world could be controlled through reason and science. During this period it was believed that there had to be a reason for everything, and an all-over simplicity was sought that was not known in earlier centuries. The Classical period in music tends to be associated with this movement, and composers perfected the forms of classical music such as the sonata, symphony and concerto. Music from this period tends to be “easier listening” for the musically unsophisticated.

Well known composers from this era are: Mozart and Haydn.

Romantic Music (1825-1900) - Composers from this era wanted to overwhelm their listeners and wanted to “melt their hearts”. The main focus was on the melody and the romantic themes tended to be lyrical.

Well known composers from this era are: Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky.

COMBINING MUSIC AND DEEP BREATHING

Relax by breathing deeply while you sit in an upright position with closed eyes. Listen to the music of any of the above-mentioned composers, especially the slow movements of concertos from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. Remain in this meditative-position for as long as desired.

The combination of breath- and music therapy provides a powerful tool in establishing the physical and emotional health of the individual.

All people love music. Good music soothes the soul, calms the heart, and fills the ears. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine a world without music.

If you are a musician, a recording artist, a member of a band, a businessman engaged in the music industry, or merely a music lover, it would be a cool to have a music room in your house. This could be a spare room, a cozy corner, or even a specifically constructed room where you could practice your musical skills, hang out and practice with the band, or just relax and unwind while listening to the soft strums of a guitar.

If you are planning to have a music room, here are some ideas to make it more conducive to its purpose.

1. A music room is usually a place for relaxation. Therefore, you should put chairs, tables, or couches for people to relax while listening. Even a single very comfortable chair, a recliner, or a love seat would suffice.

2. Preferably, your music room should have an outside view, and that outside view should be a pleasant one. For example, through your music room’s window, you may see the city skyline, a garden, or the beachfront.

3. Add some wall decors. For instance, musical metal wall art of your choice may be metal notes that are cut or photo-etched from sheet metal or brass. You may also want to put posters of your favorite singers or musical groups. Do not just stick the posters on the wall; it is usually better to frame it.

4. You can also add other decorations such as lava lamps, flowers, and plants. Lamp shades and blooms usually brighten up any room, and it would be very good to have one in your music room. Choose blooms and light accessories with bright colors. Just make sure that vases and lampshades and such do not stand in the way; a swing of a guitar or the thrusting of a violin bow can knock them off from their perch.

5. The way you arrange the furniture in your music room plays a big part of its composition. For example, if you are using your music room as a place where you can sit and relax while you are playing your guitar, then avoid clutter and put your recliner or seat near a window. If you are using the room as a practice venue, place all large instruments, amplifiers, speakers, and other equipment against the room’s walls, leaving the center clear for you and other members to practice. In case your members are carrying portable instruments such as guitars, make sure to have enough space to swing the instruments around.

6. Aside from music metal wall art, sculptures, and posters, you can also use your own instruments or paraphernalia as decorations-guitars, jackets, album covers, the list is endless.

7. Lighting also plays a big part in setting the mood in your music room. For example, if you are in a rock band, a red light would give your room a “dangerous” feeling, very conducive for a rock theme. However, if you are the one who likes classical or instrumental music, install pin lights and soft lighting.

There are many videos and CDs on the market for babies. You may have heard of theories that classical music can help your baby become smarter, and by exposing them to music we are introducing our baby to the world around us.

Music is good for calming your baby and can soothe them so that they become more restful at bedtimes, or for their nap time. There are many good choices out there for your baby.

If you find a piece of music relaxing and love listening to, you may find it is ideal for your baby too. Mozart or Bach are good collections to have for bedtime. For soothing music there is Enya, or another choice for something peaceful and relaxing is Georgia Kelly’s harp music.

Nursery rhymes and music from children’s films can stimulate your baby’s senses when he is awake. Philip Glass is a minimalist and a lot of children respond to his music; the music is simple with a good rhythm and when your baby gets older, he will dance to it. To help get your baby to sleep try the gospel and spiritual music.

You can buy sound machines which simulate the sound of dolphins, or water in the form of rain, the sea or ocean which can be soothing whilst blocking out any background noise in your home. You can also put on a fan, though not directly in your baby’s direction, or some other form of white noise. It isn’t necessary to create an alternate silent surrounding for your baby, as they also need to get used to the usual home rhythm and the activities that go on around the house.

Classical music is also a good genre of music that you can try, if you’re not used to listening to it. Listening to what helps your baby get to sleep, can also be relaxing for you, so while you are both going through that bonding process, you can both enjoy some restful periods together.

Relaxation music

The purpose of each relaxation music should be the creation of relaxation, concentration, optimistic mood and inspiration. That kind of music, called also new age music, is being employed in several treatments like anxiety management and massage or in many activities that need relaxed state like for example yoga. What the good relaxation music should contain.

The bulk of that type of music is rubbish and is available in the shops in special cheap bins. Why this happens? The music that undsfinishes up in such cheap bins is being recorded for the mass, solely to sell it. Hence that music isn’t going to put you into relaxed state, even if you think it does, you only imagine that you are relaxed. How often did you attempt to go to sleep after listening such cheap music and had difficulty to do that? How frequently the music you have listened to happened to be aggravating and useless? It is often because as I debated earlier not for putting you into a chilled mental state but to sell the million copies and earn the cash. It is analogous to the food products you purchase in the market. The one that are far more dear only contain natural elements. Same is with the good relaxation music. If this is inexpensive, it implies that it wont aid relaxation or can even do more damage than products. Typically the relaxation music is compatible with the 40 min or 1 hour length care. It is insisted that good relaxation music should put you into an alpha mental state. Alpha state is the state when you’re relaxed but aware. Many AHA or EUREKA moments occurred when you were in that state.

Try a search for the relaxation music that put you into alpha state, so called alpha music, as well as the one that have many years research.

If you’re a consultant, especially music specialist, you know about the importance of selecting the right music for your care.

Music and sound healing is not a new concept. Cultures throughout the world have used music to empower, energize, heal and soothe the body, mind and spirit since time immemorial. It is no accident that Apollo, the Greek god who is credited as being the father of medicine, is also the father of music and the inventor of the lyre.

Music and healing are part of each other, and current research is pointing to that more and more. Recent studies have shown that music can slow down and help balance brain waves, reduce tension and stress by affecting endorphin levels, reduce physical tension by changing the vibrational frequency of cells, and even evoke feelings of love and inner peace.

Of course, if music can slow down your body’s rhythms and effect soothing, peace and healing, it can also have the opposite effect. A well-chosen set of music can help energize you and prepare you to work hard and be creative. Studies have also shown that athletes working out and practicing to music use more energy, stretch themselves further and burn more calories than those who work without music.

There’s a great deal of information available now about music and healing. Sound healing, music therapy, and the power of sound to effect changes in the mind, body and spirit are becoming more and more accepted. It’s sometimes difficult to tell how much is true and how much is marketing hype.

I became interested in the healing power of music as a by-product of trying to produce the most beautiful music possible. Years back, Leonard Bernstein invited me to perform as concertmaster in the world premiere his production of Mass. While there, he invited me along to speak with management and producers in the recording industry.

I learned from them, to my surprise, that the violin, the instrument that I consider the most beautiful and evocative of any, was not considered by the recording industry to be a marketable sound - that people would not buy recordings that featured the violin.

That piece of news amazed me. To me, the violin is the most beautiful, evocative and versatile instrument ever created. In the hands of a skilled musician, the violin can gloat, laugh, exult or cry. It can express nearly any emotion that humans can feel in their hearts and souls. I challenged myself then to produce works of music that presented the violin as I know it - the evocative and expressive voice of the soul.

That was the beginning of my own music label and catalog, Li-Sem Enterprises. As it grew, I began to hear from those who work in the fields of healing, both the traditional hospitals and doctors’ offices, and those working in CAM (complementary and alternative medicine), telling me that they were using my music in their practices, to enhance meditation, focus awareness and evoke emotions.

Perhaps the most potent, powerful story that I heard was that of a teenage boy diagnosed with schizophrenia who did not speak at all, but who, while listening to my CD Fragrance of a Dream, looked up and said, “This music is so beautiful it breaks your heart.”

Those stories and touches from others led me to begin exploring the world of healing with sound and music, and what I find both amazes me and confirms my own belief that music is one of the most potent healing tools the world has ever possessed. I am still very much a student, a pilgrim on a quest to learn all that I can about the ways that different tones, vibrations and sounds can affect the body and attune with the emotions and the spiritual.

It is a wonderful journey, and one that I intend to share with as many people as I can. As a beginning of that sharing, here are some things that I have learned, and that I believe about how music helps to heal and regenerate the body.

1. Your body will heal itself if you give it the right tools. I believe that some music can help your body to heal by helping it to realign its balance. At the same time, it is far too early in the research for anyone to tell you which musical selections will heal a specific medical condition. I would be irresponsible if I recommended that music replace other more traditional forms of healing and therapy. Music is a complementary way to give your body the tools that it needs to help itself heal.

2. One of the most important and effective things that you can do for your body is to help it relax into a meditative state. There is a great deal of research to support that a state of meditative calm inspires your body and your mind to renew itself.

3. Sound is one of the best tools for inspiring the meditative state in which your body is receptive to healing and renewal - but it is important to choose your music carefully. Some music - classical music in particular - seems to go there instinctively, but most music was not designed to relax you.

We are barely beginning to understand the ways that music affects us and effects healing in us. The research is exciting and ongoing, and I spend a great deal of time working with different bodies of healers in various fields to aid this research in all the ways that I can.

I incorporate what I have learned into the production of the titles and arrangements chosen for every new Li-Sem Catalog release in the hopes that this wonderful gift that I was given, the gift of making music, can become a gift to others - one that helps heal and refresh and renew, and in the process becomes part of a positive change in the world.

We all live in constant tension. Busy with work and kids and household we do not have time to properly relax. The economic crisis of 2008 makes things even worse. When people are fired or the income is much lower than it used to be people are less likely to go to a health club. They often stay at home thrilled by the thought of the coming poverty. Psychologists say such behavior will undoubtedly lead to the deep depression of spirits.

Not to get caught in the trap of depression one should properly relax. There are several techniques that are still free or very cheap.

-Go for a walk. Parks do not take any fee but offer you the most relaxing scenes of nature. Walking among the trees calms one down. In half an hour you will find the hush to fall over the rambling mind and body.

-Take yoga exercise. If you want to save money download the free yoga guides from the internet and exercise at home. Yoga is known to clear the mind and you have high chances to find the way out.

-Stop taking alcohol. Beer and cocktails wash away lot of money from your pockets and ruin your health.

-Listen to the music. Music is a known antidepressant. To save money take advantage of the free legal music floating in the web. A good audio converter like Total MP3 Converter at http://www.totalconverter.com will help you to convert any unsupported file type into MP3.

-Read books instead of watching TV or surfing the web. Stop leaving a PC on at work or at home. Running day and night PC and TV waste electricity and your money. A classical book will calm you down absolutely free. All you have to do is to remove dust from the book shelves. Free public libraries are also at you disposal.

- Stop smoking. Statistics show that smokers are far more nervous people than non-smokes. Getting rid of that habit you also avoid humiliating cadging cigarettes from friends.

Following these simple and free techniques you will not only save quite a sum of money but also get far healthier than before.

ife without music, and just like a human soul without consciousness. As sound refreshes the soul, it forms as a timeless masterpiece of the triumph of human life. What makes human beings different from the rest of the creatures is the capacity to copy and produce sounds using not only voices but also our bodies. This ability reveals powers that imitate the rustling of the trees and combine it with the intensity of the flowing wind.

Human beings reproduce other animal sounds and blend it together as one musical concerto. Furthermore, humanity does more than just mimic them and pretend to be like them. This is the best proof that, indeed, human beings are more than just an ape. A symphony of vivacity emanates from within us as the soul produces music from the core of our existence.

A harmony of sounds combines different tones that convey the deepest meaning of our essence as human beings. The drama of our earthly existence reveals that there is more than just the humdrum of the daily routine. It displays the dynamics and sonic qualities of texture and timbre. It is like going to a room which was previously silent and lifeless. Now, it is filled with endless excitement of music, which has been produced by our innate capacity to reproduce music. Music is the meaningful product to relax and express our feelings at the moment

At the end of the day, we relax to the tune of soothing music as our bodies absorb the vibration produced by human hands. It might be that some type of music maybe noise to another person but this is only because we choose the songs that will express what we feel deep inside the recesses of our personhood. Like a ballad is to a lover, or the sound of drumbeats for a fertility dance.

When words fail to capture the mysteries of our existence, the best way is to produce music. The interpretation of music would vary in culture and social situations. This clearly shows that music is as eternal as life is. As music travels to our senses, it goes deeper into our consciousness. Then, it triggers the most powerful emotions, which reside in the soul. Generally, music can either destroy or build the soul. We can say that music can destroy or nourish life. Therefore, as music heals it also annihilates.

It moves the soul in different ways and when played in a particular mode, it triggers violence and brings them towards anger and hatred. However, music can enliven and fill the soul with what is noble and sacred. This brings us to the most important reality that music is an integral part of the existence of human beings. The present generations continuously collect music from different timelines and place them inside computers and IPods. In addition to this, we have to move towards a philosophical reflection of how music can truly help humanity. At the peak of technological improvement, music faces a new challenge.

There are a lot of Easy Relaxation Techniques which can effectively help you to manage stress. But rather than the symptoms it is more important to track the stressors. Stressors are things that lead you to take stress and to become restless, stressors can be anything; it can be the traffic that you faced on your way to work, an argument with your loved ones or a pressure of project submission.

There are two types of stressors that is internal and external. External stressors are those which are beyond our control. On the other hand internal stressors are generated due to our own perception of things and emotions. There are “easy relaxation techniques” that can help you to control these stressors whether they are internal or external. It is more helpful in case of external stressors as they are beyond our control. Here is a list of a few very simple but none the less very effective relaxation tips.

1. Physical touch.

A caring touch can do wonders to your low mood. This can be a friendly hug, a pull at the cheek or a pat on the back. It could be anyone, a family member a friend or a colleague but a touch that says that “I care” is a definite mood lifter.

2. Distant yourself.

If there is a specific thing that is disturbing you or causing you stress, then the best thing to do is, to distant yourself from the stressor. If you are at office you can take a quick wash room break or visit the pantry. You can also take a walk and try and think at the situation at hand at a more objective angle.

3. Get something to drink or eat.

If you are weighed down with worry, then the best remedy is to distract yourself that with some great food. You can settle for a cup of coffee or tea or a healthy snack and keep the problem at rest for a while.

4. Laugh.

It sounds silly, but laughter can relieve you of all your worries, it can help to lighten your mood and your face muscles at the same time.

5. Take a break.

It is important that you take break and use these Easy Relaxation Techniques.

It need not be long and does not need to have a purpose.

You can take a 15 minutes break just to get fresh air. While you are out in the open it is a great idea to listen to some music via a portable music player. You can also listen to music while you are walking to the subway to get back home from work.

Once you try these you will see that these “Easy Relaxation Techniques”

will help to handle stress very effectively.

Can you do it? Sure, we know you have your desires and dreams and goals but can you detach from all of that for three minutes and forty seconds? It is our fervent hope that this post will allow you to expand your horizons and attract your ultimate desires into your life.

How do you become Happy? There is really only one way to become happy and we will give you that age old secret right this minute. No we won’t package the secret and try to sell it to you. We will just give you a gift of this high knowledge right here and here it is. To become happy all you have to do is make a firm decision to be happy this minute: Happiness is nothing more than a decision you make. There really is no other way to be happy. Nothing, no thing can make you happy without that decision.

So what is left? We have mentioned detach and decide. What about relax. O.K. were going to help you with this one in a very unusual way. We are going to give you a quite enjoyable music video test. Sure we know that most of the people who visit our site are adults and not teens. Teens are usually too busy living life to be thinking about how to manifest health, wealth, love or happiness in their lives. Now we know that our viewers of this site are some tasteful people. They have very diversified tastes in music. Some like rock, jazz, classical, country and oh so many more genres. They usually don’t like young teenagers music. So imagine if you went to the Himalayas to find a guru and you spoke to all the Tibetan monks and all the gurus and all the Tibetan monks told you that when they want to feel good, they play this one certain music video that we have included here. Then knowing this, when you see the video you really start to laugh. You ask yourself how could these wise men watch this video and why does it make them feel good?

So this is your test. We want you to watch this video and not criticize or critique it. We want you to notice only positive aspects of this video. For instance: Is the lead singer cute and lively and refreshing? Is she a dynamic performer? Is the song catchy? Can you feel good energy watching it? Even though you usually would never listen to this kind of music or watch a video like this, did you decide that it makes you happy anyway for some strange reason?

Now, of course, we insist that in order to pass this test and feel the benefit of your new positive outlook and happiness, you must answer yes to all the above questions Any time during your viewing of the video that you feel a critical or negative thought, you must send it out of your skull. Don’t try to figure out why the Tibetan monks love this video or why it has become the Dali Lama’s theme song. Just laugh about all that. Now it is time for you to test yourself. Follow these instructions carefully. You may want to watch it more than once until you are able to detach, relax and decide to be happy and look at things positively. Always remember negative thoughts bring you negative circumstances. Positive thoughts bring you positive circumstances. That is just the way certain universal laws work. If you continue to buck up against that and not believe it is true you will see that no negative thoughts can bring you positive experiences in life.

Remember this important note: If you find yourself being critical of this video and having negative thoughts then you are not someone who is able to detach, relax and decide. And, this will be an answer to you of why you have the experiences and circumstances that you observe in your life. But, if you can be happy for just three minutes and forty seconds a day, in thirty days you will see wonderful experiences and circumstances attracted into your life. So don’t give up. Watch this video (or any video) every day for thirty days once you are able to let it make you make the decision to be happy. And as inane or stupid as this may sound>We have proof that it works and is just one method of perspectives for you to attract health, wealth, love and happiness through this simple experiment.

Take the music video test by clicking on the link below (or copy and paste) and make sure you enlarge it for a better test experience.

ONLY IF you just can’t feel good, no matter what, than we suggest you take the very brief cool person test by clicking on the link below: Be warned: don’t click the below link until you have watched the video or test results may not be accurate. There are four basic, essential principles to using music in healing and sound therapy. These four principles are: brainwave entrainment, intention, sympathetic resonance and pure tone. While these terms may sound complicated, they are very simplistic in nature. Each is necessary in the music healing process, although they function independently of each other.

Not much is known yet about brainwave entrainment, which is alternatively known as brainwave synchronization. Because very few studies have been performed regarding the phenomenon, it is usually associated with parapsychology and pseudoscience, and is not given much credit within the scientific community. However, it has been proved that this phenomenon does exist and is a plausible alternative to modern medicine.

The easy explanation of brainwave synchronization is that the brain constantly sends out many different brainwave “pulses” of varied states simultaneously, instead of one at a time. One singular brainwave state with become dominant, contributing to your current state of mind. With brainwave synchronization utilizing binaural beats, one can actually influence the brain as well as your current mental state.

H.W. Dove, a German Scientist, discovered binaural beats in 1839 when he presented two different frequencies of sound to each ear. The brain then detects the difference between the two frequencies of sound and produces a third, new signal, a binaural beat which is equal to the difference between the two frequencies. For example, if you played a sound frequency of 85Hz in your left ear, and 90Hz in your right ear, the brain would create it’s very own frequency signal of 5Hz to make up the difference of the two presented frequencies. Using this method, one can actually induce the brainwave state that they desire.

As both the left and right hemispheres of the brain start to resonate to a binaural beat in synchronization, you now have brainwave entrainment, which research has indicated contributes to extreme creativity, pronounced clarity and inspiration. EEG patterns recorded from different test groups comprised of highly successful individuals also displayed an extraordinarily high level of brainwave entrainment.

Intention is the next essential part of music healing therapy, which is most easily explained as the motivation behind the sound being played. If you think of this in terms of a lullaby sung to a child, which is intended to soothe and relax, versus a heavy metal song intended to vent anger and frustration, you can see how very influential intention is. Having the intention to heal, soothe, and repair can carry from a singer’s voice or musician’s instrument to the person or persons receiving the sound.

Sympathetic Resonance can be best described as a harmonic phenomenon where one sound will cause a “sympathetic” response or reaction. This can be achieved in many ways, for example when a loud sound will cause windowpanes to rattle, or when a C tuning fork is is struck, a different C tuning fork nearby will also begin to vibrate. When applied to music healing therapy, there must be a resonance between the musician and the listener.

Pure tone is also very important in this process and is a single-frequency tone with no harmonic content (no overtone). You may be most familiar with pure tone if you have ever had a hearing test, and they played pure tones into headphones. Obviously when applied to music healing, harmonic content will most likely be added, but pure tone allows our bodies to heal. When our bodies receive a pure tone our muscles will relax and tension will be released.

These are the four basic building blocks of healing with music. Many other aspects are very important as well but these essential parts of not only sound, but sound and music in healing therapy, must be present in order for healing and relaxation to take place.

Asbestosis

For the under 5s

Put some fun music on and let them dance and move as fast as possible and let them lie down still as soon as the music stops. Extend the periods of lying down, so children get used to lying still for a longer time.

Play some classical music and let children lie down and relax. Encourage your child to curl up into a little ball (like a snail or a tortoise) where they have to stay as quiet and as tiny as possible.

Wrap them in a warm cosy blanket, tucked up snuggly with their favourite soft toy. Ask them to see if they can stay as quiet as possible and feel the warmth in their body.

Experiment with some calming music and read a story from the Relax Kids book or a Relax Kids CD in a calm and monotonous voice, while they get into their favourite sleeping position.

Don’t worry if young children are not able to concentrate and keep still for very long, the most important thing is that you are creating new habits and positive patterns.

Older children

Repeat an affirmation such as ‘I feel peaceful’ 10 times slowly and ask them to notice how it makes them feel.

Practice deep and slow breathing together. Breathing in for a count of four, holding for four and breathing out for a count of eight, is a sure way to induce a deep feeling of relaxation.

Close your eyes and think of a peaceful and relaxing scene. The longer they can hold their concentration and think about that relaxing scene, the better.

Count slowly and with each count, feel more and more still and relaxed.

Imagine that you have a balloon in your hands. With each inhalation slowly pull your hands apart and exhale slowly while bringing them back together again. The hands do not touch. Keep breathing in and out slowly as you move your hands.

The body follows what the mind conceives. The condition of the mind often affects how the body performs, which explains why people who are stressed often suffer from accelerated aging and health problems. There are techniques that can help avoid or at least minimize stress. Follow these top 10 ways to relax and give your mind and body a good break.

1. Learn to breathe.

Breathing comes unconsciously, which sometimes encourages us to take it for granted. Several times a day, when you feel stress coming on or you feel tired and unenthusiastic, do a few deep breathing exercises. Here’s how:

Sit or stand with your spine straight and stretched slightly. Then slowly take a breath at a slow count of 3 and exhale just as slowly. Allow your lungs to expand as you take in the air and empty it as you breathe out. If it helps to close your eyes, then do so. Fresh oxygen helps enliven your blood and the slow breathing encourages you to sit or stand still for a moment.

2. Stretch.

Another way to relax is slow stretching. Whether you’re standing or seated, make sure to keep your spine straight and allow your arms to dangle loosely at your side. Feet should be flat on the floor and relaxed.

Slowly raise your arms high, as if you’re reaching for the ceiling and slowly raise yourself on the ball of your feet. Follow the movement of your hands with your eyes so that your head can tilt back. Hold this position for a count of 10 and then slowly bring down your arms.

3. Increase your physical activities.

Or at least get yourself one if you haven’t got any up until now. Contrary to what other people think, exercising actually helps you relax afterwards. It cleanses your body of toxins by inducing sweat, increases your blood flow and the flow of oxygen to the brain and it works up your muscles.

Start slowly and gradually build up until you are able to maintain a regular schedule.

4. Watch your diet.

What you eat affects your mood. Another great way to relax is to maintain a diet that is rich in nutrients, such as antioxidants, folate and omega-3 fatty acids. Eat more fruits and vegetables and when you’re thirsty, grab a bottle of water and keep away from sodas and flavored drinks.

5. Get enough sound sleep.

Sleep is about quality and not just quantity but in times of stress, it’s best to get as much sleep as you can. About 6 to 8 hours should get you the rest you need.

Getting enough sleep is an excellent way to relax. It allows your body to regroup and recover and it eases your mind of other concerns.

6. Use music.

If music works for you, use it. Stick to soft tunes and don’t whip out that Metallica CD just yet. Rock music tends to use heavy bass lines, hard percussions and strong lyrics. If you want to relax, turn to soft and easy listening and save those faster tunes for some other time.

7. Turn away from the modern trappings of your life.

Often, the most relaxing things are also the ones that are the most basic. Once a week at least or more often, turn off the TV. Unplug it and keep the remote outside of your reach. Turn off the computer as well.

These two are common sources of distractions. Due to the rapidly changing images and the overflow of information, they can sometimes overload the mind and hinder relaxation. Keep things simple and don’t sweat the small, insignificant stuff.

8. Have time to yourself.

A good way to relax is to set aside time for some peace and quiet. What better way to do this than to schedule short vacations for yourself? You don’t have to pack your bags or even leave the house - simply close the door, find a nice, quiet place to sit and enjoy your own company.

9. Try yoga or meditation.

Yoga and meditation helps you attain a good body and mind connection. As a result, you’re more likely to feel relaxed and refreshed. Try simple yoga steps or learn to meditate a few minutes each day. Do these regularly and you’ll find that it will get easier to relax and manage stress later on.

10. Laugh.

Find your sense of humor again. Be with family and friends you can be yourself with. Laughter is one of the best ways to relax and it doesn’t have to cost a thing. It also helps you build connections with people in your life who really matter.

Have you ever sat somewhere and marveled at how quiet it was? You are acutely aware of sound because it is so unusual to be without noise, We always hear hum from machines, the rumble of traffic, a plane, or other people talking Modern noise pollution is subtle, inconspicuous, and more dangerous than we realize

Exposure to most noises causes irritation, stress, and can result in permanent hearing loss and health problems. It’s difficult to eliminate noise, Often we try to cover offending ambient noise with music. If you like the music, it usually results in fewer physical problems.

We know that brain waves are modified by sounds. Beta brain waves, those between 14 and 20 hertz are most common. We achieve relaxed concentration or lucid awareness when alpha waves, between 8 and 13 hertz, are present Music with about 60 heats per minute–particularly that of Mozart, Brahms, and Bach–shifts the brain’s activity from beta to the higher-awareness alpha waves

It’s called the Mozart Effect. This type of music lowers stress and increases concentration. A study in England found students scored 10 points higher on an IQ test after listening to Mozart compared to those exposed to silence, white noise, or other music. White noise is just low-level random sounds. Examples are radio static and running water.)

Researchers suggest that we respond to music because our bodies are rhythmic. Our breathing, heartbeat, and many other body functions have an intrinsic rhythm.

Certain music invigorates people, while other melodies calm them. Other tunes make you sleepy or keep you awake Supermarkets, department stores, and event managers have used music to shape human behavior. Music can be used to make people move faster or slower, to encourage them to shop longer, persuade them to action, or help them to relax.

Other recent research links exposure to music to improved mental skills. Einstein played the violin and believed this helped his subconscious mind to solve problems. Many people who suffer from insomnia find that some of Bach’s music helps them. Lively popular music boosts energy and endurance. These results aren’t new

But being exposed to music you dislike causes negative effects, including higher blood pressure and stress. Most adults refer to the tunes teenagers listen to as noise. Teens feel the same way about other people’s music. There’s a story about a large group of young people gathering daily near a convenience store. They weren’t doing anything wrong, but their presence irritated the store’s owner and customers. The owner had an idea. He piped classical music outside the store, and the teens quickly disappeared.

Martin Gardiner of Brown University checked the relationship between arrest records of teenagers and their involvement in music. Gardiner found that the more a teen was associated with music, the lower the arrest record. Teens with music education were less likely to get into trouble than students without it. Those who also played a musical instrument, played in a band, or were in a chorus had even fewer problems with the law.

Retail stores have discovered that sales increase when they play easy-listening music. Apparently this music calms shoppers and encourages them to spend more time in the store.

Light, easy-paced music tends to help most people concentrate for a longer time, and improves their ability to memorize facts. However, with some people this music has the opposite effect. It distracts and disturbs those who are more analytical or inhibited than the norm. Listen to various kinds of music to determine its effect on you.

The tempo of religious music induces a feeling of peace and helps a person cope with physical and emotional pain. On the other end of the spectrum, heavy metal, rap, or martial music excites the nervous system and prompts people to dynamic action or aggressive behavior. It’s not surprising that Gulf War pilots listened to recordings of heavy metal music before launching their offensive flights into battle.

Studies are under way to determine if music can cure or help emotional problems and people with brain injuries or Alzheimer’s.

The effects of sounds on other aspects of nature have also been known for centuries. In southern India, farmers believe the gentle sounds of humming and buzzing insects guarantee healthy sprouting of the sugarcane. Carefully conducted experiments have proved that plants grow faster when music, especially tunes in the low frequency range of 100 to 600 hertz, are piped over the fields or into greenhouses. Farm animals and pets have been known to respond to music.

Your heartbeat tends to synchronize with any ambient pulsation. With modern rap music, there is concern as to what the unnatural rhythm changes do to listeners’ bodies, emotions, and even their subconscious. Long-term effects are unknown.

Music will influence our health and behavior. By knowing about its effects, we can use it to our benefit.

Music has long been known to have an emotional effect on humans. Find out how the music you listen to might be affecting you and how you can use music to manage your stress.

There are so many kinds of music - country western, classical, eastern, rap, pop, hip hop, rock and roll, soul…what kind of music are you listening to, and how is it affecting your level of stress?

Music moves us - listening to a sad song can make us feel melancholy, soft jazz piano can calm and soothe us, and rock can make us feel strong, excited, even free. Music has been proven to speed healing, is used in malls to put us in the mood to buy, in churches for inspiration and much more. So can you use music to influence your mood and lower your stress in your daily life? Absolutely.

First, consider your general mood. Are you normally stressed, happy, positive, sad, angry, fearful, even shy? Are there consistent times in your life that you would like to change your mood - maybe the drive home from work, or getting up in the morning, or maybe you stress at night, laying in bed, tossing and turning?

For me…it’s that low energy time around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon. I’ve usually been working since six in the morning or so, and I need a little pick up. For me, it could be a little Van Halen or White Snake, or maybe a little Santana. Other people may prefer some upbeat jazz, or pop music. It doesn’t really matter, as long as it makes you feel good.

How does music influence our mood like this?

There are many ways music influences our mood. Music is energy - vibrations that have a certain frequency. As we listen to the music, our brainwaves may adjust to match the vibrations of the music. This is why music can be very effective for meditation and hypnosis, it can actually “entrain” the brain to enter a deeper, or more relaxed, aware state.

Your memories may also be part of the influence of music. Many times, the brain stores emotion alongside memories - if a song makes you blue, you might remember a time when you were really sad, and that song came on the radio, virtually anchoring itself to that sad feeling. Your brain would create a direct link between the song and the emotion, so every time you hear the song, that emotion is accessed as well.

Words can also have a large effect on us…there may be words in the music that really resonate with you, like in some inspirational songs. You may relate to the story of a song because of a similar experience. These things can strike a chord (pun intended) with you and alter your mood.

Many people listen to music in the background while they work, drive or do other things. They are not focused on the music, but their inner mind does take it in. If you listen to music with negative or harsh words or themes, you might want to consider that many times when listening to music, people have a tendency to enter into an altered state of awareness. The conscious mind is distracted with work, but the subconscious, or inner mind, is recording and storing it. This can actually cause you to feel more stress. If you listen to a lot of negative music or other media, consider that it can have a negative effect on your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions. Of course, listening to positive music can have a positive effect on your beliefs, thoughts feelings and actions.

You can use music as a tool to help you achieve the feelings that you want. If you want to have a more relaxed environment at work, play music that calms you and helps you to focus. There is music that is specifically designed to help you meditate, coaxing your brainwaves into a specific pattern. You can play upbeat music when cleaning the house or exercising. If you’re feeling down you can listen to inspirational music.

Music can have a big influence on your mood, increasing your ability to relax, making you feel good, increasing your focus and much more. When you choose music for yourself and the people around you, consider how you want to feel, then choose music that can help produce that feeling.
