Mind power is all about music, and let me tell you about one of the best examples of how you can look into this. For one thing, when you are talking about being able to study well, some experts have also said that when you study, you should be listening to the music that you like, because it activates the areas of the brain that allow you to retain information and learn better. Now this is just one example of the kind of application that subliminal music actually came from and you can actually go further into this topic.

For one thing, music has healing properties, and this is something that we already know about and have established for ourselves. Knowing that there is always a change that music can actually affect the cortical of the mind, we then know that there are ways to use it to our own advantage. But the problem has always been to know which kind of music which will actually wake up part of the mind and the subconscious mind, and this really was a kind of a guessing game that had been going on for a while now. What you need to understand is that when you are doing this, what you need to know is that personal development was and is all about research.

For example, we now know that the power of the subconscious mind also lies upon the electromagnetic waves that are all around the brain, and when you consider this, we have fond a key and a method to actually unlock the power of the mind for ourselves. But of course normal music does not have the ability to do this, and even if it does, it applies only to those that actually like the sound track in the first place. It is very hard to stimulate someone who actually does not like the music that they are being exposed to and this is what we are talking about.

So, there has to be an engineered method where specific messages that were designed to be picked up by the subliminal mind, be engaged and embedded into universally and proven relaxing music, which can range from nature sounds to engineered sounds that had been placed in a controlled environment. What you need to know is that when you are looking at your own personal development, you need to take into account factors that you need to embed subliminal messages that go past the defences of the logical and critical thought processes.

What happens is that when this happens, the subconscious mind will pick up these messages and will, after some time, inculcate the messages into the matrix of the mind. So, these are some of the things you need to look at when you are talking about the power of personal development and how music that has been engineered to help you. The good thing is that you would be able to get some sort of help online and off line as well.

Millions of people around the world suffer from a number of different sleep disorders and try many methods for solving the problems that come with most of these sleep disorders. People have tried sleep aids that contain medications, relaxation techniques, mechanical sleep aids, and even creating a bed time routine to relax the body and the mind enough for the person to get enough sleep each night. There is one treatment method for sleep disorders that is often overlooked and that is using music for sleep disorders.

Using music for sleep disorders has been a common treatment method for many different people throughout history. When medieval kings had trouble sleeping at night, often from the stress of ruling and wondering which family member was plotting to kill them and take their throne, they called for their musicians to play soothing music until they had relaxed enough to go to sleep. This technique is even more common today, with mothers singing their children soft lullabies to lull them into a deep and relaxing slumber.

Today, there are many different artists that create music to soothe a person so that they can get to sleep. Most of these soothing melodies must be purchased at the local record store or other retailer that sells music as music to put a person to sleep is not really popular on radio stations across the nation. The type of music that is chosen will depend on the personal preference of the person that will be using the music to get to sleep.

There are many different versions of music that can be used as a treatment for sleep disorders such as insomnia. The most popular songs used for this purpose are instrumental melodies that are smooth and gentle to the ears. These songs contain no words and are designed to draw the person into the music where they can clear their mind and surrender to the calming sounds of the song.

Many instrumental melodies that are designed to lull a person to sleep use gentle sounding instruments, such as pianos, saxophones, and flutes for the music. This creates a relaxing sound that has nothing to focus the mind on and reduce the soothing qualities of the music. The tone of the music will ebb and flow, creating an effect in the mind similar to floating on a bubble or riding gentle waves of water. As the person listens to the music, they will begin to feel the muscles in their body lose tension and their mind begin to drift away into a deep and restful sleep.

Some people choose music that incorporates more sounds of nature than sounds of instruments in the song. The sound of whispering winds, rustling leaves, and soothing animal songs releases a primal response in some people that helps them relax more deeply, resulting in a more restful sleep. People that choose to use music to help relieve the symptoms of a sleep disorder may have to purchase several different types of music before they find the one that works best for them.

Insomnia in America has reached an all time high. It is reported that over 64 million Americans suffer from it. Contributing factors to insomnia are a poor diet too much caffeine alcohol anxiety and depression. Lack of sleep causes fatigue during the day and may make you feel too tired to exercise and very reliant on coffee and other stimulants to get through the day. Many people get caught in this vicious cycle. If you are having trouble getting a good nights sleep here are a few helpful tips

Relax Your Mind At the end of a long day it can be tough to clear your mind of the many things that have been left unfinished. It is helpful to write down everything that you need to do the next day in order to get it out of your mind so that you can relax. It is amazing how much a small thing like this can help you get ready for a healthy nights sleep.

Stretch Most people do not realize that a good stretch is the most natural way to prepare for a good sleep. Watch a baby or small child when they start to feel sleepy and they will naturally stretch and yawn. Unfortunately adults often lose this natural inclination that relaxes the body and prepares the mind for sleep. Maintaining flexibility helps reduce stress and relax the mind and body. It also encourages muscles to relax and removes toxins from the body. Try simple stretches like raising your arms as high as possible above your head and touching your toes. Lay down on the floor or on a firm bed and lengthen your arms towards your feet and stretch to touch your toes.

Use Music Relaxing music has a more powerful effect on the mind and body than most people realize. It has been shown that listening to peaceful music is one of the best ways to actually relax the muscles and put your body in the right state for deep effective sleep.

Exercise Studies show that those who exercise daily are much more likely to sleep better at night. When you exercise you help your muscles to grow and develop. This increases your metabolism and helps your body to burn fat. This process continues while you sleep which makes your body tired. With regular cardio exercise you basically kill two birds with one stone. You trim fat while putting yourself in the best position to feel tired and sleep well at night.

Use Smart Supplements There are lots of supplements out there that claim to help you achieve restful sleep. Be wise and choose a natural supplement like Whey Protein. This all-natural byproduct of dairy is 90% protein and helps your body develop lean muscle even while you sleep. This is a gluten free supplement that is used by professional athletes and anyone who wants to burn fat and build lean muscle. Whey Protein is a great way to effectively increase your metabolism as you exercise regularly before bedtime.

By following these tips you should be looking and feeling better in no time and sleeping soundly through the night.

Anxiety is one of the ways in which we respond to negative stress. When we are stressed out, we spend a lot of time worrying about what the future will bring. This in turn leads to anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks can range from mild fears to gut-wrenching life-stopping moments. As such, anxiety has the potential to derail your life seriously. Unfortunately, life in the world today is such a huge cauldron of troubles that getting away from stress and anxiety is almost impossible. The only way out is to learn how to manage stress effectively so that you are never subjected to anxiety attacks.

Contrary to popular beliefs, it is not very difficult to relax during stressful times. There are certain anxiety relaxation techniques a person can use to arrest an anxiety attack. Given below are the top 4 anxiety relaxation techniques you can use to keep your fears at bay.

Meditation: Relaxation refers to a controlled state of mind where you are completely at peace with the thoughts running through you. One of the easiest ways to relax is to go into deep meditation. There are two kinds of meditation. One, in which there is an attempt to focus deeply on one thought, and another in which the attempt is to become free of all thoughts. Whichever technique you use, meditation can be used to achieve deep relaxation.

Massage: If you have the time, then getting a good body massage with essential herbal oils can be a great way to relax. Many essential oils evoke soothing responses in the brain and bring about deep relaxation both in the body and mind. Of course, you need to make an attempt to clear your mind of disturbing thoughts so your body can relax itself.

Deep breathing: This is actually a mild form of meditation. When you breathe deeply, oxygen floods your system and this brings about a soothing feeling. Imagine that you are inhaling fresh air and that you are exhaling all your troubles. Deep breathing focuses the mind and makes it possible for you to tune into the silence of your mind. This is an excellent method to de-stress yourself.

Listening to music: These days, music for relaxation is being reinvented in a big way. Music has a very strong therapeutic influence on the mind. Different tempos can evoke corresponding moods in the mid. With advances made in the field of music therapy, it is now possible to get music CDs that are specially designed to relieve stress, evoke positive thoughts, assist meditation or bring freedom from pain. Listening to music is a great way to unwind. It is also less expensive and the effect is quiet immediate.

The choice of an effective anxiety relaxation technique depends on your personal preferences. After a while, you will begin to see what works and what does not, and what can be done to manage your anxiety better. Learn from your experiences and open the doors to a happy life.

Relaxation video and DVD programming is a precious resource for some of the healthcare environment that mainly comprise hospitals, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, hospitals, oncology centers, kidney and heart centers as well as homecare settings. It consists of peaceful video scenes accompanied with gentle and inspiring therapeutic music. For patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia as well as strokes, brain injuries and Parkinson’s disease these relaxation videos have an extremely positive effect.

a) Divine Inspiration is a perfect blend of inspiring traditional hymn music along with amazing scenes of old rural churches and places of worship. Those with a religious bend of mind find extreme relaxation with these devotional music and pictures. Therefore animal videos are of great use for the rehabilitation centers.

b) Animals: Animals are generally the best friends of human beings and those people who are unwell (physically or mentally gets a lot of peace while observing the animals).

The scenes of the puppies playing games (as are commonly seen in the Animal Planet) with the accompaniment of lively music surely make them feel calm and relaxed.

Goose: The scene of the goose paddling in a river is indeed beautiful and when it is combined with light music the audience is enthralled. c) Flowers

One can enjoy the rich and attractive scenery in this serene forest setting. You can have a view of the wooded countryside an also admire the flowers, ferns, mushrooms, berries, ponds, creeks and wild animals in that special environment. This scenic relaxation video has a very soothing music in its background and often there is also a small narration accompanied with it.

I have been reading a lot about sounds and the stress-relieving properties of sound therapies. It “sounds: like we are finally getting down to our roots and finding natural ways to heal that were used by our Ancestors.

Since there was not medicine available like we have today, they used drumbeats, chimes and signing bowls to experience a higher state of consciousness. As you know from reading Directed Dreaming, once you enter into the higher conscious (or subconscious) you are able to find out things that can help you in everyday life (such as finding answers to important questions, solving money problems, etc.)

There have been clinical trials performed that suggest that sound may boost the immune system, trigger our body’s production of natural painkillers, and relieve stress. Music therapy can be done by anyone, even if you don’t have a musical ability; it consists of playing a slow even rhythm (on a drum), or using cymbals, bells or gongs.

If playing a gong or pounding on drums is just not your style, and you think it might make you feel (or look) a little silly, there are fairly normal, natural, things you can get to help you relax using sound or light, like water fountains, stress free alarm clocks and aromatherapy that includes soft music.

There is also a really cool computer game that uses biofeedback, and as you play you go into a deep, relaxed state that empowers you to create excellent health and wellness, as well as relieve stress.

Try these things out for yourself, a little music never hurt anyone!

DNA Activation plus, you will stop the aging process and actually start to rejuvenate to look and feel YOUNGER. You will go from using 10% of your brain to becoming a multi-dimensional being with psychic, telepathic, and manifestation abilities beyond anything you’ve ever dreamed of. DNA Activation imagine activating 100% of your 2 strand DNA, PLUS 10 additional strands! DNA Activation most people have to meditate for many years just to have a so-called ‘mystical’ experience, that’s how disconnected we are now. Thus we live in a society where people are sick, unhappy, stressed out, create wars, have difficulty experiencing love, and are totally disconnected with the universe.

DNA Activation scientists acknowledge that we currently only use 3% of our current 2 strand DNA. DNA Activation each additional strand possesses attributes that permit the individual to perform greater human accomplishments. In addition to each chromosome’s 2 strand double helix of DNA, there are an additional 10 etheric strands of DNA available to each human, which have been dormant since the beginning of recorded history. 1. You should use your favorite category of Healing music and in case you don’t like Mozart or classical music then don’t use it. Good and quality music can be found in most genre of Healing music.

2. You should choose Healing music that has pleasant associations for you or music that brings you cheerful memories.

3. If you want to try new Healing music, then go for instrumental music tends that are more stress relieving than the Healing music having lyrics because this doesn’t requires you t o think.

4. You should choose Healing music that is slow and has regular pulse or beat. This is because researchers discovered that music with the tempo of healthy resting heartbeat will synchronize your own breathing and heart beat to it thereby slowing down your racing body rhythms.

5. Racing thoughts can often lead to anxious and stressed out feelings and for this you should use rhythms of slow Healing music so as to slow down your body and thoughts.

download promotions are wide reaching and powerful. They give your company a multi-faceted promotional tool with which you can leverage popular artists to grow your brand and excite your target market. Because there are always new artists being catapulted into the spotlight, your brand has access to an unlimited catalog of new, popular music. You can utilize this resource to meet the insatiable consumer demand. In doing so, you will improve your brand awareness and create a surge in product sales.

Below, we’ll give you a comprehensive preview of music download promotions. You’ll learn how they work and the unique advantages they offer your business. We’ll also describe how to use digital promotions to deliver a memorable impact at a surprisingly low cost. Lastly, we’ll explain how you can tailor music download promotions to form a seamless fit for your target audience, regardless of your marketing objectives.

How Music Download Promotions Work

Digital music incentives are delivered to your customers online through customized landing pages and branded music stores. The music download promotions are launched by distributing promo codes and website URLs in-pack, on-pack, through email, text messaging, signage, custom-branded cards, and other platforms. You can customize your marketing campaign to control its reach into your target market.

When your customers visit the website URL listed on your promotion, they’ll be able to choose from a library of popular artists and songs. Once your customers select their downloads, they are prompted to enter their promo code.

You’ll enjoy a tremendous level of flexibility in customizing your music download promotions. You can broaden your music library to include millions of songs, or tighten it according to your audience and marketing objectives.

Harnessing The Advantages Of Music Promotions

Because the landing pages to which your target market is driven can be customized with your company’s logo and artwork, your music download promotions dramatically improve brand recognition. And because music has such universal appeal, it is one of the most potent levers for increasing customer loyalty.

But, that is merely scratching the surface of their marketing potential.

When your target audience arrives on your customized landing pages, you’ll have an opportunity to introduce them to new products your company is launching. You can also require them to provide personal information prior to downloading songs. That allows you to compile a valuable database that you can leverage for future marketing campaigns. While music download promotions can be harnessed to generate a boost in immediate sales, their potential effect on your business’s bottom line extends much further.

Digital Promotions: High-Performance Promotional Impact At A Lower Cost

Digital promotions have quickly evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry. Businesses have realized that music download promotions and other digital incentives can increase their marketing reach at a remarkably low cost. Promotional incentives can be delivered online to mobile devices, through email, or customized landing pages. Given the high-performance impact of these promotions, the cost of distribution to a massive audience is exceptionally low.

Tailor Music Download Promotions To Your Audience

Your target market can likely be broken down into tight segments. You can launch music download promotions that cater specifically to each of these segments, according to their taste in music. The tighter your focus, the higher response you’ll enjoy.

For example, suppose you’re promoting a brand that appeals to multiple age groups. A younger audience may be motivated by music download promotions highlighting alternative rock and hip hop artists. An older audience might be more willing to respond if offered classic rock songs. Still other groups of your target market may be motivated to respond to music download promotions featuring Latino artists. Every market segment represents an opportunity to refine your focus and tap into a specific pool of consumers.

Entertainment Promotions Leverage High-Profile Entertainment Content

Music download promotions are merely one of several types of entertainment promotions that can help drive your brand. Entertainment that has been created to promote high-profile content such as films, video games, television shows, and CD releases can be licensed and offered as digital incentives. That allows your company to benefit from the top of mind awareness enjoyed by these entertainment properties. Imagine launching music download promotions for your brand that ride on the coattails of the latest Hollywood blockbuster or CD release.

Executing Music Download Promotions For Your Company

You can penetrate new markets, invigorate your current customer base, improve brand recognition, and spur long-term sales by launching customized music download promotions. Your entire campaign can be designed as a turnkey solution. There’s no need to host the music library on your site. Nor do you need to take an active role in driving web traffic to your branded landing pages. The delivery and fulfillment of your digital music incentives are also handled as components of the back-end system.

If you are not already leveraging music download promotions to reach more deeply into your market, now is the time to do so.

You can enhance your hypnotic experience with music for hypnosis. This can be accomplished by choosing a high quality hypnotherapy session that a hypnotherapist records in audio. This kind of musical experience can be found in an MP3 or CD recording designed specifically for a trance. You may have experienced the effects of a soundtrack when you listen to the radio in a very relaxed state.

Hypnosis Music

There are certain qualities that you want in your musical relaxation recordings. One of the most important qualities is a relatively mundane mood in the piece. This may seem uninteresting but you really want to focus on the relaxation and deep hypnotic trance rather than the force of the song.

Musical compositions often have very emotional components that can be counterproductive to a trance state. Your selection should offer a balanced composition that is calming without evoking dreary emotions. This is a very difficult balance to achieve.

Songs, Emotions and Mind

Musical elements are a natural part of life. Your body has natural rhythms, days, weeks and years follow patterns. Art and song are elements of patterns that evoke the visual and auditory imagination. You can use song to help create remarkable images in your mind.

Emotion is an important component because typical artistic ventures seek to evoke emotion as well as inspiration. However, hypnosis for music is designed to help you create your own inspirational ideas by pruning away negative emotions and replacing them with calm focus.

This process works to address various realms of your being without influence on your emotional state. You should feel calm, relaxed and focused after listening to this type of composition; not emotionally charged and on edge. This process helps you open your mind to your experience and your thought processes.

Finding Music for Hypnosis

The quest for a well-made composition is very challenging without guidance. You can find many recordings but not all are created equally. There are superior compilations that can offer everything you need to achieve a higher level of calm and relaxation in your experience. Following are a few ideas to consider in your search.

Nick Kemp’s masterful recording found here - Music For Hypnosis - is a balanced composition that offers the tools you need for music unity with your physical and psychological self. Another excellent composition is by the legendary hypnotherapist, Duncan McColl, found here - Music For Hypnosis. Duncan’s life work has helped many people achieve success in their hypnotic ventures. Other outstanding selections are available here - Hypnosis Music. Simply follow the links for more information.

How do you choose the best meditation music? Baroque music is often recommended, and particular pieces may have the right number of beats-per-minute to alter your brainwaves. But more on that in a moment. The science isn’t that settled in this area yet, and you may find that any music which you don’t enjoy will just distract you rather than help your meditative state.

Personal experimentation is called for then. You can start with baroque if you like. Compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach are commonly recommended. Try “Prelude from Cello Suite” or “Allemande” (Cello Suite 3). Frederick Handel’s music works well for many as well.

But you don’t have to limit your experimentation to classical music. Meditation music can include Jazz, guitar and Indian sitar compositions too. Gregorian chants are used by some, as are CDs with the sounds of nature mixed in with the music. We’re all unique enough that different things will work better for each of our meditation practices.

However, there is one element that can really improve meditation music. It is the addition of “binaural beats.” These are cyclic pulsations caused by having the same notes or sounds on an audio recording, but slightly out of tune with each other. The effect is to “entrain” your brainwaves, meaning they begin to follow the beats. This technology of “brainwave entrainment” has been around for a couple decades now, but it is being used more often now.

The idea is that the beats in the music will slow your brainwaves down so you go from the normal waking or “Beta” state of consciousness (14 to 30 hertz) to and “Alpha” brainwave state (8 - 14 hertz) or deeper. The alpha state is one of relaxed alertness, and is considered a light meditative state. The “Theta” state (4 - 8 hertz) is one of deeper meditation - if you stay awake (drowsiness is common).

Do this kind of meditation music work? My wife and I have tried several different products, and yes, brainwave entrainment works. My meditation CDs quickly put me into a relaxed meditative state, and the ones designed to synchronize brainwaves to the theta range (4 - 8 hertz) either facilitate deep meditation or, if I am laying down, put me to sleep. My wife found greater self awareness and less stress as results of listening as well.

So which is the best meditation music? Many kinds may work well. But what is added to the music may be the most important thing.

Staircases, elevators, waiting/guest rooms, call on-hold waiting and many other arenas of daily life are associated with music. It offers relaxation of mind and provides a sort of refreshment. Soothing music has not only proved to be effective in healing depression, anxiety and other mental problems but also used by surgeons while they operate any body part with local anaesthesia to help the patient relax and feel comfortable.

Music at workplace is actually in vogue since the past 60 years. Seattle-based Muzak has a over 250,000 business clients worldwide–including Mercedes Benz Credit Corp. and General Nutrition Centers Inc.These firms like to incorporate music in some form or the other into their day-to-day operations.

So how do you actually arrange for music at your office? This question is the most important one because every one have a unique set of likings and dislikings. While a certain music style lights up the spirit of some people, another group of people might get bored up with the same. According to Alvin Collis, vice president of audio architecture for Muzak, the best we can do in such a case is to go for an all-instrumental format.

A study conducted by the researchers of The University of Illinois on 256 office workers says that listening to active music soothed tired nerves, calmed down the mind, checked office chatter, boosted mood and enhanced the performance of the employees considerably. There was a better focus on daily work with more satisfaction and reduced interest in changing jobs.

Stress:

When human body is stressed, the nervous system becomes hyper-active and it becomes very difficult to focus on a particular task. The side effects are muscular tensions, low breathing and low circulation. Some may even develop stress related illness, some suffer from anxiety and others show it up as obsessive behaviour.

Surveys and Research Reports over the past two decades reveal that:

• 43% of all adults suffer adverse health effects due to stress.

• 75 - 90% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress-related complaints or disorders.

• An estimated 1 million workers are absent on an average workday because of stress related complaints.

It has been found that more than 50% of employees and managers were absent from work due to psychological problems such as stress. There are various solutions to this. One of the solutions is to go for alternative health programs which includes deep breathing, music therapy, herbal and aroma therapy, and tai chi. All these are meant to soothe your nerves, it calms and focuses the mind.

The Mozart Effect

The University of California conducted a research in the year 1993 on the effect of Mozart’s Piano Sonata on human mind. The University researchers found that college students who listened to Mozart’s Piano Sonata K. 448 for ten minutes prior to taking a spatial IQ test scored eight points higher than those who did not. They concluded that music listening might have enhanced their brain’s performance in doing abstract operations immediately thereafter. This is known as The Mozart Effect.

As a grandmother of four grandchildren under the age of five, it’s often overwhelming when they all come over to my house for a visit. On the occasions that I have been left alone with them, babysitting or just playing with them, they often become boisterous and loudly competitive, sometimes difficult to control.

One day, anticipating their arrival, I decided to turn on some quiet, soothing music and to have it playing during their visit. I wondered if it would help keep them calmer and, hopefully, more quiet than usual, (I already had a slight headache, even before their arrival). My oldest grandson noticed the music. I asked him if he liked it, and he said yes, that it sounded like “sleepy music,” so I left it on, quietly in the background.

After about a half hour, I noticed, (happily, I might add), that the children were playing “nicely” together, and that the atmosphere was generally less noisy and more relaxed than on previous visits. And my headache, (albeit with the aid of an aspirin), was noticeably better.

Upon reflection, I considered that the change in their general behavior was largely due to the calming influence of the music. I was reluctant to challenge my hypothesis by changing to more upbeat music, as I was enjoying the peaceful atmosphere too much and didn’t want to risk it. But I was impressed with the obvious power inherent in music and how conducive it was for a peaceful experience .

When I was a music student studying Music Therapy, I learned that it is therapeutic to match a patient’s mood with music of the same or similar mood. This surprised me, because I thought that if a particular patient was, for example, depressed, then wouldn’t it follow that, in order to help the patient out of depression, it would be more helpful to play “happy’ music? Not so, according to the music therapy experts. It is apparently preferable to allow the particular mood rather than fight it, as the patient often experiences more agitation when listening to music opposite their mood.

Maybe it was a lucky coincidence that my grandchildren were calmer and more mellow than usual that day - maybe the music actually matched their moods. I wonder, which actually came first - their moods or the music?

I think that either case is feasible: sometimes a mood might be improved upon with the judicial use of appropriate music and conversely, music can possibly aggravate a given mood. I find it interesting that music can support emotions or exacerbate them.

It was a lovely afternoon with the grandkids. Maybe the music assisted them in achieving a more peaceful afternoon at their grandmother’s house. I know one thing, they were visibly more relaxed, more attentive to storytelling and story books and less combative and aggressive. Maybe I just got lucky that day. Perhaps I’ll test my theory further another day during another visit, but I’ll make sure that I don’t have a headache if I do..

Breathing

Developing your breath awareness will benefit you and the baby during pregnancy and help you during the birth. Practice breathing deeply and rhythmically. This can ease muscle tension, lower your heart rate, and help you fall asleep faster. Take in a deep breath and breathe out as slow as you can. Repeat this exercise a few times.

Massage

Massage is a wonderful way to relieve stress and muscle tiredness during pregnancy. Gentle massage techniques can reduce the pain and increase your mobility. Ask your partner or a friend to give you a foot, hand or neck massage before bed. Or treat yourself to a professional massage, making sure the masseuse is a pregnancy specialist.

Yoga and stretching

Yoga & stretching are great ways to give the body a relaxing treat, whilst keeping you toned and flexible. Many gyms and health clubs offer yoga and stretch classes and some are designed specifically for pregnant women. You may like to create your own stretching routine with simple moves for your neck and shoulders, back, waist, and legs. Do what feels good, as any simple stretch will bring relaxation to the muscles.

15 minutes deep relaxation a day

Give yourself 15 minutes everyday, where you turn off the TV and telephone and rest completely. This is a great way to re-charge and bring rest, yet energy to the whole body. Lie down on the floor or bed and allow yourself to relax. Starting with your feet, tense and relax your toes tightly and then relax them. Squeeze your legs tightly and then let them go completely. Tense your arms against your body and then allow them to relax completely. Squeeze your shoulders up to your ears and relax them deeply. Tense the muscles in your face and then relax. Stay there still and allow your whole body to relax deeply.

Classical Music

Relaxing to classical music such as Mozart is the perfect way to help you and your baby relax. Classical music can activate the alpha brainwaves, which help get you into a state of deep inner calm and contentment. Sit or lie down and as you listen to the music, feel as if your whole body is relaxing and sinking into the bed or chair.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a wonderful way to help lift your mood during pregnancy. Not all essential oils are safe during pregnancy. Rose oil is a great relaxant, whilst lavender, neroli and nutmeg are deeply calming. Geranium is great to boost your circulation. Use a few drops in almond oil. Oils may be used in the bath, shower, a diffuser or with a massage. Sprinkling a couple of drops of lavender on your pillow may help you get to sleep.

Visualisation

Visualisation is a great way to help you relax. When you have a few moments spare, picture yourself in a quiet, relaxing scene. This might be lying on a warm sandy beach or walking through a rain forest or sitting under a shady tree or by a quiet river bed. Allow your imagination to go into the detail of the scene and include the sounds, smells, tastes, and textures around you. This may take some practice, but keep trying. Once you master this technique you can use your imagination to calm your anxious or restless mind. You might like to try listening to Relax Kids Nature CD and imagine you are in beautiful nature settings. It is great for adults as well as children and a great way to start your baby relaxing.

In the world of music, there are endless possibilities for creativity in production. But when it comes to sitting down and listening to your favorite artists, what is the best way to do it? Most people don’t think about it, but throughout the course of this article, you will obtain possible life-changing strategies to listen to your favorite music. There are 3 main methods for listening to music; perceptive listening, casual listening, and background listening. Each method will be outlined, and benefits will also be discussed. Now is the time to experiment with all of the ways you can listen to your music!

When in the state of perceptive listening, you are fully aware of your music; that is the lyrics, rhythm, all of the instruments and components of the track. This state may be difficult to achieve if you have never been a perceptive listener before. It is the most rewarding listening experience, clearing our mind of everything but the pure sound of music. We cannot achieve this state if there are other thoughts racing through our head; your mind must be completely blank, letting the music take you away. How do you know when you are in a perceptive listening state? You will become unaware of your environment (closing your eyes is strongly recommended), focusing on nothing in your life but the music going through your head. Your mood will be directed by the type of music you are listening to, and some will experience a state of Euphoria. When in perceptive listening mode, always aim to be in a Euphoric state, as it will make the music that much more enjoyable. This can lead to becoming more relaxed, having less stress, and an overall improvement in life. If you haven’t given perceptive listening a try, do it right after you finish this article. What have you got to lose?

We spend a lot of time in the Casual listening mode, which is the line right between Perceptive and Background listening. You are fully aware of the lyrics/rhythm, and auditory elements are comprehended. We are usually performing some task that distracts us from the full perceptive state, so euphoria cannot be experienced. When listening casually, our mind only donates part of its attention to the music, so only part of us is affected while listening. Our mood does change along with the music, but it is generally a weaker feeling than perceptive listening. While we listen to music casually for a long period of time, our subconscious processes the information, and songs have a tendency to get stuck in our heads. Unfortunately, you cannot be fully immersed in the music, and that takes away a key element of enjoyment. Since we spend so much time casually listening to music, we think this is the most involving method of listening. Practice perceptive listening, and you will see the vast difference.

Sometimes, we have so many mind-numbing tasks to do, hitting the play button is the only way to keep our sanity. This is called background listening, and it helps us get through our challenging days. Casual listening is very common among teenagers who study for tests, and generally people who listen to music while working with their minds. This is when we are in the weakest state of music perception, and auditory elements aren’t usually comprehended. You can get so caught up in a task that you forget any music is playing. Because our mind is focused on so many things, our mood will be least affected by music. Obviously, this isn’t how music was intended to be listened to. So what benefits does this bring? Lets look at Johnny: Johnny is studying for his math test, and he is really struggling on a concept. He puts on his headphones on low volume background listening to help him relax, and suddenly he is able to comprehend his math problems. On the day of the test, he can actually play back the song in his head, then his subconscious will recall his studying, and that helps him recall the important math concepts. Johnny gets an A on his test….So you see where this is going; background listening affects the subconscious mind, which leads us to the final point. Memory. As shown in Johnny’s case, memory can be improved by listening to music in the background. So what are you for? Listen to more background music, improve your memory!

Perceptive Listening, Casual Listening, and Background Listening. Each one has its pros and cons. When possible, try all 3 techniques, and see which one you like the most. If you haven’t experienced the thrill of perceptive listening, you have to try it soon. If you haven’t relaxed to some casual listening, you might want to give it a shot. Some people, however, aren’t able to have music in the background while working. You know who you are. Give these techniques a shot, you never know what kind of amazing improvements could come about in your life. It’s the little things that can make a big difference. Rediscover your music, rediscover the way you listen to it!

How music can help to sooth hyperactivity among children?

What have we come to when we start expelling 4yr olds youngsters from nurseries? Has the world gone mad? ‘What’s next, will we be expelling badly behaved babies straight after birth for crying?’

According to [neurologist Dr. Fred] Baughman, 500,000 youngsters [in the USA] were diagnosed ADHD in 1985 and between 5 and 7 million were these days.

Significant increase has been reported in Australia, where it’s worked out that at least fifty thousand youngsters are now on drugs prescribed for ADHD.

Some professionals are convinced that music has the power to ease and relax a kid with hyperactivity or ADHD, and can help a child control their own behavior.

Is it just a speculation or truth?

Many tests conducted on colleges and schools worldwide on relaxation and classical music showed that such music affects children and students, helping them improving their ability to study more effectively.

Besides its influence on learning, music in addition has been found to have a deeply soothing effect on kids with hyperactivity or ADHD. Adults generally use such music for meditation or alternative treatments and exercises such as yoga. This effect of calming and relaxing could also be created for youngsters who find it difficult to govern their behaviour.

They can not focus on one task and this leads to anxious and bad behaviour.

When playing music in the background the noises that distract the child could be covered by the music.

along with professionals and researches who examine the influence of music onto child’s behaviour, many kid trick cyclists, folks, teachers, and other specialists are starting to see the advantages of helping children relax, and become calmer in their behavior through introducing music sessions into everyday routines.

The nation’s Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence ( NICE ) announces that ‘The drug Ritalin, which is prescribed to many youngsters with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ( ADHD ) to help to calm children, should be avoided’ is searching for alternative ways to help youngsters with ADHD rather than prescribing popular drug.

The simple tactics to help hyperactive child to relax are :

Good relaxing and comfortable environment

Set up times when kid can have few minutes to unwind turn off the television, radio, PC and put on relaxation music

When kid becomes annoyed and distracted try to show him a way to effectively breath ( in through the nose, out thru the mouth )

Touch is very important to attention deficit Hyperactivity Disorder children. The relaxing massage may be occasionally inevitable

Teen Children

How many times have you turned to music to uplift you even further in happy times, or sought the comfort of music when melancholy strikes?

Music affects us all. But only in recent times have scientists sought to explain and quantify the way music impacts us at an emotional level. Researching the links between melody and the mind indicates that listening to and playing music actually can alter how our brains, and therefore our bodies, function.

It seems that the healing power of music, over body and spirit, is only just starting to be understood, even though music therapy is not new. For many years therapists have been advocating the use of music in both listening and study for the reduction of anxiety and stress, the relief of pain. And music has also been recommended as an aid for positive change in mood and emotional states.

Michael DeBakey, who in 1966 became the first surgeon to successfully implant an artificial heart, is on record saying: “Creating and performing music promotes self-expression and provides self-gratification while giving pleasure to others. In medicine, increasing published reports demonstrate that music has a healing effect on patients.”

Doctors now believe using music therapy in hospitals and nursing homes not only makes people feel better, but also makes them heal faster. And across the nation, medical experts are beginning to apply the new revelations about music’s impact on the brain to treating patients.

In one study, researcher Michael Thaut and his team detailed how victims of stroke, cerebral palsy and Parkinson’s disease who worked to music took bigger, more balanced strides than those whose therapy had no accompaniment.

Other researchers have found the sound of drums may influence how bodies work. Quoted in a 2001 article in USA Today, Suzanne Hasner, chairwoman of the music therapy department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, says even those with dementia or head injuries retain musical ability.

The article reported results of an experiment in which researchers from the Mind-Body Wellness Center in Meadville, Pa., tracked 111 cancer patients who played drums for 30 minutes a day. They found strengthened immune systems and increased levels of cancer-fighting cells in many of the patients.

“Deep in our long-term memory is this rehearsed music,” Hasner says. “It is processed in the emotional part of the brain, the amygdala. Here is where you remember the music played at your wedding, the music of your first love, that first dance. Such things can still be remembered even in people with progressive diseases. It can be a window, a way to reach them.”

The American Music Therapy Organization claims music therapy may allow for “emotional intimacy with families and caregivers, relaxation for the entire family, and meaningful time spent together in a positive, creative way”.

Scientists have been making progress in its exploration into why music should have this effect. In 2001 Dr. Anne Blood and Robert Zatorre of McGill University in Montreal, used positron emission tomography, or PET scans, to find out if particular brain structures were stimulated by music.

In their study, Blood and Zatorre asked 10 musicians, five men and five women, to choose stirring music. The subjects were then given PET scans as they listened to four types of audio stimuli – the selected music, other music, general noise or silence. Each sequence was repeated three times in random order.

Blood said when the subjects heard the music that gave them “chills,” the PET scans detected activity in the portions of the brain that are also stimulated by food and sex.

Just why humans developed such a biologically based appreciation of music is still not clear. The appreciation of food and the drive for sex evolved to help the survival of the species, but “music did not develop strictly for survival purposes,” Blood told Associated Press at the time.

She also believes that because music activates the parts of the brain that make us happy, this suggests it can benefit our physical and mental well being.

This is good news for patients undergoing surgical operations who experience anxiety in anticipation of those procedures.

Polish researcher, Zbigniew Kucharski, at the Medical Academy of Warsaw, studied the effect of acoustic therapy for fear management in dental patients. During the period from October 2001 to May 2002, 38 dental patients aged between 16 and 60 years were observed. The patients received variations of acoustic therapy, a practice where music is received via headphones and also vibrators.

Dr Kucharski discovered the negative feelings decreased five-fold for patients who received 30 minutes of acoustic therapy both before and after their dental procedure. For the group that heard and felt music only prior to the operation, the fearful feelings reduced by a factor of 1.6 only.

For the last group (the control), which received acoustic therapy only during the operation, there was no change in the degree of fear felt.

A 1992 study identified music listening and relaxation instruction as an effective way to reduce pain and anxiety in women undergoing painful gynecological procedures. And other studies have proved music can reduce other ‘negative’ human emotions like fear, distress and depression.

Sheri Robb and a team of researchers published a report in the Journal of Music Therapy in 1992, outlining their findings that music assisted relaxation procedures (music listening, deep breathing and other exercises) effectively reduced anxiety in pediatric surgical patients on a burn unit.

“Music,” says Esther Mok in the AORN Journal in February 2003, “is an easily administered, non-threatening, non-invasive, and inexpensive tool to calm preoperative anxiety.”

So far, according to the same report, researchers cannot be certain why music has a calming affect on many medical patients. One school of thought believes music may reduce stress because it can help patients to relax and also lower blood pressure. Another researcher claims music allows the body’s vibrations to synchronize with the rhythms of those around it. For instance, if an anxious patient with a racing heartbeat listens to slow music, his heart rate will slow down and synchronize with the music’s rhythm.

Such results are still something of a mystery. The incredible ability that music has to affect and manipulate emotions and the brain is undeniable, and yet still largely inexplicable.

Aside from brain activity, the affect of music on hormone levels in the human body can also be quantified, and there is definite evidence that music can lower levels of cortisol in the body (associated with arousal and stress), and raise levels of melatonin (which can induce sleep). It can also precipitate the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller.

But how does music succeed in prompting emotions within us? And why are these emotions often so powerful? The simple answer is that no one knows yet. So far we can quantify some of the emotional responses caused by music, but we cannot yet explain them. But that’s OK. I don’t have to understand electricity to benefit from light when I switch on a lamp when I come into a room, and I don’t have to understand why music can make me feel better emotionally. It just does – our Creator made us that way.

The purpose of each relaxation music must be the creation of relaxation, concentration, happy mood and inspiration. That sort of music, identified also ambient music, is being used in many cures such as anxiety control and massage or in several exercises that need relaxed state like for instance yoga.

What should the good relaxation music include.

There are thousands of relaxation music available on the market.

It is cheap and indeed sold in thousands of copies. However that music is not going to put you into relaxed state, even if you believe it does, you only imagine that you are relaxed.

The good relaxation music isn’t cheap. It is analogous to the food products you purchase in the market. The one that are far more expensive only contain natural parts.

Same is with the good relaxation music. The good relaxation music is based on years of research, measurements, investments and client satisfaction.

Usually the relaxation music is compatible with the forty min or 1 hour length care. Alpha state is the state when you are relaxed but aware. Many AHA or EUREKA moments occurred when you were in that state. Only few of relaxation music can do that for you. 90% of the music available on the market should end up in rubbish bin and should not be worth your attention. Try a search for the relaxation music that put you into alpha state, so called alpha music, as well as the one that have many years research. If you’re a specialist, especially music therapist, you know of the importance of choosing the right music for your care.

When a baby is first born, it can be a very trying time for the parent. Most mothers I have spoken to have told me that it’s a 24 hour nonstop job to parent a new born child. I have always heard of their inability to get any rest as they tend to the many needs of their child. As soon as it seems like the baby is asleep and they feel like they too can get some rest, then out of nowhere the screaming starts again. That’s when the rocking, nursing, rubbing, or anything else they can think of begins in an attempt to get their baby to relax and go back to sleep. On often overlooked ways to calm their baby down is also one of the most effective – music!

Just as music has the ability to affect our moods in adulthood, it has the same if not more ability to do so in infants. A lot of research done by many different organizations has proved that music can benefit a baby in many different ways. A nice calming lullaby has been used for centuries to calm babies down. An upbeat energetic song can create excitement in a baby. And even classical music has been said to increase creativity in children – called the Mozart effect. With today’s technology we have the added benefit of pre-recorded music that we play in a cd player and get all these benefits for your child with the push of a button.
